THE RAYMOND WENTZ FOUNDATION RECEIVES GRANT FROM THE KOMEN DENVER AFFILIATE TO OFFER HOPE FOR TOMORROW THROUGH THE JOYS OF TODAYDenver, CO – April 10, 2009 – The Denver Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® has awarded a $42,000 grant to The Raymond Wentz Foundation in order to make a difference in the lives of medically underserved breast cancer patients. At The Raymond Wentz Foundation, the grant from Komen for the Cure will support low income breast cancer patients who cannot afford basic needs like utility payments, rent, groceries, transportation or office visit co-pays. Susan G. Komen for the Cure is the world’s largest breast cancer organization, and the Komen Denver Affiliate is one of 125 Affiliates on the front lines dedicated to ending breast cancer in their communities. Komen Affiliates fund innovative programs that help women and men overcome the cultural, social, educational and financial barriers to breast cancer screening and treatment. “The Raymond Wentz Foundation will provide financial support to medically underserved breast cancer patients, and the Komen Denver Affiliate is proud to work in partnership with them,” said Michele Ostrander, Executive Director.
Through our partnership with Komen we are able to support individuals like Janet who was diagnosed in 2008 with breast cancer.
