OUR MISSION

To generate hope by lessening the daily financial struggles experienced by cancer patients in our community.

The Raymond Wentz Foundation makes unrestricted cash grants to patients of all ages across the state of Colorado.  Since 2002, the foundation has granted over $700,000 to more than 1,000 patients. We offer support to cancer patients with any type of cancer diagnosis in financial need.  Grant recipients have had cancers ranging from breast, colon, pancreas, lung, and brain to leukemia and lymphoma.

History

The Raymond Wentz Foundation was established by Denver oncologist Dr. David Schrier in memory of his patient Raymond Wentz. Diagnosed at age 17 with Lymphoma, Raymond’s bravery and grace inspired all who cared for him. Left parentless earlier in life, Raymond and his sister earned what they could at a local supermarket. Making rent payments and buying groceries were constant struggles. Dr. Schrier called on his family and friends to help Raymond and his sister. When Raymond died just months after his diagnosis, it was only natural that Dr. Schrier continued caring for cancer patients’ financial needs in Raymond’s honor.
