Our Mission

Receiving the diagnosis of cancer with all the consequent decisions regarding treatment options creates tremendous stress for individuals and families. The Raymond Wentz Foundation was established to give needed support to those individuals who are diagnosed with cancer and who go into treatment with marginal financial and emotional resources.

The Foundation assists individuals experiencing emotional, physical and financial crisis whose cancer diagnosis creates additional burdens that they are not able to meet. Often these individuals have limits to their health insurance coverage or no coverage. Medical treatment following the diagnosis of cancer may force them and/or their spouse to take a leave of absence from their jobs or otherwise lose essential income. Many of these individuals lose their financial self-sufficiency due to their circumstances. The Raymond Wentz Foundation provides essential support for these persons during cancer treatment.

The objective of the Foundation is to raise funds to carry out its mission. The Foundation has established mechanisms and procedures to receive and review referrals, determine patients’ needs and distribute funds according to Foundation guidelines. Trained psychotherapists, nurses and social workers assist the Foundation with referral reviews and determination of appropriate distributions.
